Expectations

Expectations. We all have them. What are yours? What do you expect in this political process? What do you expect in a candidate?

The one thing that I have learned about politics, having run in 2002, and being your local Republican district chair for nearly the past four years, is that a voter's perception becomes their reality.

In politics, it doesn't matter what the facts are if you aren't successful in conveying them. While people often complain about wanting a politician to be specific, the minute one gets specific, it gives people reasons not to support that candidate. Many vote for candidates not knowing what their stands are, but at least they're better than the other guy they do know.

The citizens of Columbia Heights, Hilltop, Fridley, and Saint Anthony deserve a leader who will stand for us, but also has the ability to work with others. As a state representative, you are one voice of 134, and it is just as important to have the right ideas as it is to be able to convince others that they should join you. I believe that I can be that leader for you.

My reality is that I am a hometown kid, grew up in Columbia Heights, went to school in Columbia Heights, and am now a homeowner in Columbia Heights.

I am recently married, to my beautiful wife Maria, who has been an absolute blessing to me.

I'm running because I want to make our district, our neighborhoods, the best that they can be. If I simply wanted to be a politician, I could move to the most Republican district in the state and run there. But I see myself as your public servant, someone to fight on your behalf.

To win in this district, I believe you need to bring yourself down to a human level, let people see you as a real person, who is in the trenches with you. Knocking one house by one, you change their mind by changing their hearts. I'm not some caricature of an "EEEEVIL" Republican, and I won't let them portray me as such.

With your help, we can win because we have the right ideals, the right values. We have the power to change their perception into our reality.

Already many of your neighbors have joined my campaign, and I hope you do, too. They are Republicans and Democrats, libertarians and liberals, conservatives and moderates. They have all looked at my campaign, and made their choice as Adam Davis for State Representative. I hope you'll vote for me, Adam Davis, on Tuesday, November 7th.

Yours for a better community,

Adam Davis
